Family Reunification
Family reunification is a vital—yet often overlooked—component of disaster medicine and pediatric preparedness. All too often, it’s treated as an afterthought in emergency planning. But reuniting children with their families requires more than good intentions—it demands a clear strategy, the right supplies, and proactive coordination before disaster strikes. To address this critical need, Region V for Kids created five comprehensive modules to empower hospitals with the tools and guidance needed to build effective, child-focused reunification plans during disasters and hazard events.
