  • Pediatric ED Crowding Score Survey Launched

The RV4K Surge Workgroup has created a short survey to learn what crowding scores pediatric emergency departments are using. We anticipate that a better understanding of everyday crowding is crucial to optimizing the response during disasters.

If you are a pediatric ED, please consider responding to our very quick, 7-question survey!

  • Extreme Winter Weather - Avoiding Frostbite

“Kids are at risk primarily because they like to have fun. They’re not going to notice if their toes are cold or numb until it’s too late.” - Dr. Deanna Dahl Grove

  • Completing the Disaster Cycle for Children: Introducing the Pediatric After-Action Report

“Children are too often an afterthought in disaster recovery, despite being one of the most vulnerable populations. This Pediatric After-Action Report gives emergency managers a practical, all-hazards tool to systematically evaluate pediatric impacts after an event—and turn lessons learned into concrete improvements before the next disaster occurs. I was honored to work on this with Doctor Nathan Timm to help spread the word,” - McKayla Schloemer, MS, CCRC, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital

  • Measles

Measles spreads easily through the air and is highly contagious. Common symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. If you or your child have symptoms, stay home for at least four days to help prevent spreading illness.

We included families in every step of the process this time, so you not only get our clinical experts but also interviews with families and real-life scenarios and exercises.” - Dr. Roxanna Lefort, Riley Hospital for Children

  • Pediatric After-Action Report

"This pediatric after-action report was created to help regional emergency management leaders highlight the impact disasters have on children in a community." - Dr. Nathan Timm, Cincinnati Children's Hospital

  • Surgery and Perioperative Unit Disaster Framework

“We encourage use of the Surgery and Perioperative Unit Disaster (SPUD) framework to create a plan and hope it can be a catalyst for ongoing collaborations towards disaster preparedness and response,” - Dr. Cullen Clark, Nationwide Children's Hospital
